Foundation
I have included my own personal philosophy of education to express the importance of education for every child. Regardless of cultural diversity, background, or need, it is important to acknowledge that all students have the potential to learn and have a right to a free appropriate public education (FAPE) As educators, it is our responsibility to pull from multiple resources to help students work towards their optimal learning potential.
Philosophy of Education
As I reflect back on my own educational endeavors, I find that there are many components that help to promote the educational success of any student. There is a type of synergy that occurs when collaborating with professionals and parents, differentiating instruction, enforcing classroom management, and demonstrating positive attitudes as well as developing a rapport with each student, are combined to produce a dynamic learning environment. It is imperative that an educator does not rely solely on student accumulated educational paperwork, but instead takes a more holistic approach in identifying their areas of strengths and needs on a more individualized level. After all, education truly is a very personal matter.
The school environment does not occur in a bubble but serves as a microsystem that often reflects the attitudes, diversities, and consequences of the outside world. Therefore, it is crucial that educators provide students with numerous learning opportunities, demonstrated in a variety of ways so that students will learn to adapt as well as to develop grit and resilient attributes when faced with challenges in society. The teacher's role is far more involved than just providing instruction, often serving as, but not limited to counselors, researchers, and advocates for their students. Taking the initiative to go beyond the call of duty often excudes a sense of appreciation for the discipline of education, as well as the students themselves. This modeling in turn helps students to develop a sense of pride within their own educational experiences and to empower themselves towards developing their own sense of appreciation for learning.
